The Griessee is a glacier lake in the Swiss Alps with a direct glacier break. About an hour's walk from the Klausen Pass you can immerse yourself in a bizarre world of glacial moraines, water and ice.
After 1:15 walking time we reach the moraine hill above the glacier lake. After a break, we descend to the outflow of the glacial lake and spend 2-2 ½ hours eating, swimming and exploring the area. A measuring station from the ETH monitors the ice movements at the glacier break-off. The hike to the Gemsfairenhüttli takes us through exciting, varied alpine landscapes. In the alpine restaurant we have the opportunity to strengthen ourselves. The subsequent descent to the Klausenpass road is relatively easy on the knees and can be mastered on the alpine access road. A steep variant with an abbreviation is also possible.
